Dr Dimopoulou Maria is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has obtained a postgraduate specialization in Food Science and a PhD in Oenology from the University of Bordeaux in France. She has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the R&D Department of BioLaffort company in France as well as a scientific associate at the Aristotle University and the Agricultural University of Athens. She has been working since 2021 as an Assistant Professor at the University of Western Attica in the Department of Vine, Wine and Beverages, teaching the courses of General Microbiology and Wine Microbiology. He has published over 40 papers in international journals and conferences and has participated in European and international research projects.
Her research interests deal with:
- the evolution of microflora in all stages of winemaking
- the interaction of microorganisms and their effect on the qualitative characteristics of wine
- the metabolic and biochemical pathways of wine microorganisms
- wine spoilage microorganisms and treatment methods/techniques
