Korkas Ilias

Elias Korkas is Professor of Viticulture at the Department of Wine, Vine and Beverage Sciences of the School of Food Sciences of the University of West Attica. He is a graduate of the Friedrich-Wilhems University School of Agriculture in Bonn with a PhD in Viticulture from the University of Geisenheim in Germany.

He is the President of the Department of “Wine, Vine and Beverage Sciences”, Member of the Postgraduate Studies Committee of UNIWA, Director of the Laboratory “Viticulture and Viticulture Management”, Assoc. Director of the Postgraduate Program (MSc) “Wine and Beer Science” as well as a member of the Special Inter-Institutional Committee of the MSc “Operations Management” of the Departments of the University of West Attica Tourism Administration and Wine, Vine and Beverage Sciences and the School of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete.

Since 2004 he has been a member of the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the TEI of Athens, Deputy Director of the School of Food Technology and Nutrition, President and Academic Manager of European Programs SOCRATES / ERASMUS Department of Oenology and Beverage Technology of TEI of Athens.

He has published articles in international scientific journals and has participated in conferences and workshops on issues related to viticulture, while his research interests include the Physiology and Biochemistry of the vine and the effect of biotic and abiotic stress factors and terroir on viticulture.
