Danai Gkizi is an assistant professor at the department of Wine, Vine and Beverages Sciences of the University of West Attica since January 2022. She studied Crop Sciences at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), Greece (2011). She performed her PhD on the role of epigenetic inheritance on the biological control of Verticillium dahliae in the Laboratory of Plant Pathology of the AUA (2019), for which she received a scholarship from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation. She performed post-doctoral research on the effect of epigenetic inheritance on the control of plant diseases at the AUA (2019-2021) and she has worked on several research projects on Plant Pathology. Her research focuses on the biological control of plant diseases, the study of grapevine trunk diseases and bunch rots and on molecular plant-microbe interactions.
