Professor of Food Packaging and Food Processing, Department of Food Science and Technology, University of West Attica. He graduated from the School of Chemical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (1979). He obtained an M.Sc. in Food Engineering and an M.Sc. in Food Science from the University of California, Davis, USA, (1981). He obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, USA, (1987). He has worked for 2 years in industry and for 2 years as Senior Research Scientist, U.K.A.E.A. Technology, Harwell Laboratory, Oxfordshire, U.K. Since 1993 he serves as Professor at the Department of Food Technology, T.E.I. of Athens, now Department of Food Science and Technology, University of West Attica. His research interests include heat and mass transfer in food systems, food dehydration, encapsulation of bioactive compounds, edible, active and antimicrobial food packaging, shelf life of foods.
