PhD Candidates
Mrs. Eleni Bozinou graduated BSc in Biology (specialization in Genetics, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) (2010). She holds an MSc in “Analysis and Control of Food Products” (2017), while now she is a PhD candidate at the Dept. of Wine, Vine and Beverage Sciences at the University of West Attica (Greece) The thesis topic regards the recovery of polyphenolic antioxidants from agro-industrial products for the enrichment of foods and beverages. She has been academic fellow at the University of Thessaly until 2022, as well. She has experience in isolation and determination of antioxidant activity of extracts of natural products using green techniques (Pulsed Electric Field and Deep Eutectic Solvents) and microencapsulation. She has knowledge of cell cultures (cancer cells, immortalized cells), molecular analytical techniques (RT-PCR, biomolecule electrophoresis, microarrays) as well as she is aware of antibacterial tests (well diffusion assay, paper diffusion assay, MIC, MBC, inhibition of biofilm growth).Moreover, she has 10 years of experience in quality control in food industries, while since 2018, she has/is participated/participating, as a researcher, at three European Union and Greek co-financed Operational Programs of Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, under the call RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE, at the University of Thessaly. Additionally, she is a researcher at a cooperation program between University of Thessaly and Korres S.A- Natural Products while she has been a researcher at a program entitled “Extraction of bioactive compounds from plant material (plants or by-products of food industry/agricultural processing) by various green methods and determination of their activity”. She gains further research experience from her participation in the Rural Development Program (sub-measure 16.1-16.2 – Action 2). She has published 86 articles in international scientific journals (h-index 16, since 2019), and 3 works in international conferences. Finally, she is a reviewer in 25 international scientific journals.
