Viticulture

The Department of Wine, Vine and Beverage Sciences of the University of West Attica maintains a vineyard, where in collaboration with the Municipality of Aigaleo, the varieties Assyrtiko and Savatiano are cultivated.

As part of the Viticulture Laboratory, the students of the Department take care of their vineyard under the guidance of their instructors.

The students of the Department of Wine, Vine and Beverage Sciences, as future oenologists, celebrate their own festival every September, where with knowledge, passion, love, and creativity, they craft their own wine!

Combining student boldness with modern knowledge,

it becomes a field of learning, cooperation, design, and teamwork — teaching them to document results, celebrate successes, and face challenges together.

Cultivation of hops

In collaboration with “GAIA-Winemaking”, the Department of Wine, Vine & Beverage Sciences proceeded to grow hops in the fertile plain of Kopaida, so that our students could cultivate their own hops in the “Malting – Brewing” Laboratory.

Excursions

The educational activity of the Department includes annual visits to wineries and breweries in Greece and abroad. The educational activity of the laboratories includes visits to wineries & vineyards in the Attica region.
